Sales Tax Exemption

Apply for the Disabled Veteran Sales Tax Exemption Card now. Beginning July 1, 2026 disabled Veterans who meet eligibility qualify and Surviving spouses of eligible Veterans may apply for the exemption.

August 7 Purple Heart Day

Governor Laura Kelly will sign a proclamation declaring August 7 as Kansas Purple Heart Day at 10:00am in the 2nd Floor Rotunda of the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka. Purple Heart Day is a time to recognize service members wounded or killed in combat in service of our Nation and our freedoms. All are welcome to attend. Apply for the 100% Service-Connected Disabled Veteran Sales Tax Exemption NOW.

Sales Tax exemption for 100% Permanent and Total or TDIU Service-Connected Veterans will be effective 1 July 2026. Applicants must submit DD214 indicating Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge and VA Award letter reflecting 100% and Permanent and Total with the application.
