Wreaths Across America (WAA)

We invite family and friends of the Kansas Veterans’ Cemeteries at Ft Dodge, WaKeeney, Winfield and Ft Riley/Manhattan to participate in our 20th Annual WAA service on Saturday, December 13th at 11 am. We will be collecting donations to place a holiday wreath on each grave in our State Veteran Cemeteries. Our goal this year is to purchase over 5,000 wreaths for all four cemeteries.

New Veterans Home Draft Environmental Assessment Public Comment

The Department of Veterans Affairs is announcing the availability of a Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) for the potential issuance of a State Veterans Home Grant to the Kansas Office of Veterans Services (KOVS) for the purpose of constructing a new Veterans’ home. Further information, including an electronic copy of the DEA may be found online, on the following website: https://www.kovs.ks.gov/veteran-homes/north-east-kansas-veterans-home-topeka. A hardcopy of the DEA document is available for review at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, located at: 1515 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka Room, Topeka KS 66604 from December 4, 2025 to January 5, 2026. Agencies and the public are encouraged to provide written comments on the DEA. The 30-day public comment period for the DEA ends on January 5, 2026.
