Veterans Health Library

Post Date:08/06/2025 9:55 AM

The Department of Veterans Affairs maintains a Veterans Health Library (VHL) to help Veterans stay healthy, well-informed to make the best health care decisions.

This online health resource was created under the guidance of VA's Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention to help Veterans, their families, and caregivers understand and maintain their best health ─ no matter where they receive care.

The VHL features health information that's been reviewed by VA experts, including many pages that are available in both English and Spanish. Veterans can access learning materials in different formats such as webpages, videos, online guides, healthy recipes, and decision aid tools. It is available anywhere there is Internet access.

The VHL is uniquely focused on Veterans. It is:
  • Veteran-specific. It includes timely health topics such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury.
  • Easy to use. It is designed to be easy for Veterans to use and understand.
  • Veteran tested. It is constantly improved by testing and feedback from Veterans, family members, and health care providers.

The VHL brings together these many resources to help Veterans and their families understand and manage their health conditions. It also helps them talk with their health care team and share decisions about their health. VA clinical staff can share information from the VHL to help their patients learn more.
