The Kansas Legislature consists of a 125-member House of Representatives and a 40-member Senate.  The annual session convened on Monday, 12 January 2026 and adjourned for the year on Saturday, 11 April 2026.

Prepared by the Kansas Office of Veterans Services, this overview summarizes legislation that will become law following the 2026 Kansas legislative session that affects Kansas Veterans, eligible Family members, service members (Active Duty / Kansas National Guard and U.S. Reserves), and KOVS employees.  While strive to capture all relevant bills, this list may not include every piece of legislation introduced during the session.  If you notice anything incorrect or missing, please contact us at rob.leicht@ks.gov.

If you are tracking a bill on your own, you can find updates by visiting the Kansas Legislature website. Enter the bill number in the box on the left labeled “Find Bill” and click the search button below it.

If you prefer to call, you may contact the legislative hotline at 1-800-432-3924 (in-state) or 785-296-2149 (out of state or in Topeka).

The official Kansas Legislature website also provides access to Legislator rosters, Committee information, bill searches, and more. When the Legislature is in session, you can listen to live debate and discussion by selecting “House, Senate & Committee Video” under “Live Audio Broadcast” on the main page. The site map is a helpful tool for quickly locating information.
