VA Programs: Mental Health Resources for Veterans
Veterans frequently encounter distinct challenges, such as the psychological impact of combat and the difficulty of transitioning back to civilian life. These experiences can significantly heighten the risk of mental health conditions like PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
Consequently, mental health remains a vital area of concern within the Veteran community.
Crisis Support – Help Is Always Available. If you are in immediate crisis or experiencing overwhelming thoughts or emotions, support is available 24/7:
Veterans Crisis Line: Call 988, then press 1, or Text 838255, or Chat at www.VeteransCrisisLine.net
Emergency Situations: Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room if you or someone else is in danger.
Homeless or at Risk?
Contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at 877-424-3838.
You’re Not Alone
Reaching out for help is a sign of strength. Whether you’re a Veteran, a Family Member, or a Caregiver, support is available. The VA is here to ensure that no Veteran has to face mental health challenges alone.
If you or a loved one is experiencing mental health difficulties, knowing where to turn can be overwhelming. Fortunately, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers a wide range of mental health services and support specifically for Veterans.
